Following on from my funded research visit to the University of Sunderland/National glass Centre last year, to use state of the art water jet cutting facilities with Dr Joanne Mitchell, I have been awarded a second Cultivator Cornwall Creative Investment Grant. New photography with Eastwood Studios is recording an evolving glass installation, Tregeseal, which focuses on a particular place near St Just in West Cornwall.
This papercut work, Shadow Lichen, has just been shown at Tremenheere Gallery, Penzance, as part of the Newlyn Society of Artist’s exhibition, Drawing Explored.
Through Feast Cornwall Bright Sparks funding, I am collaborating on a project with Penlee House Gallery & Museum. Patterns of Penwith focuses on the wood block fabric print designs of Alec Walker for the Crysede company in the 1920’s. Working with Gold Arts Award students from Cornwall College, we have designed discovery packs for locals and visitors to take out and explore some of the places that Alec Walker worked from in West Penwith. Other events will include workshops and a final celebratory event in summer 2018, and opportunities for volunteers at the Museum to be involved with the project.
Also, whilst I am not participating in Open Studios this year, please contact me if you would like to arrange a studio visit!
